Bull temple || Bangalore Visits Ep.3

Bull temple || Bangalore Visits Ep.3

Hello everyone. Today we’re going to visit a temple. It’s Dodda Basavana Gudi or Nandi Temple or
Bull temple. There are a few stories on how the bull arrived
here. One of them is that in this area it used to
be farmlands. Groundnuts and peanuts were grown here and
an angry bull was ruining all the crops. So one farmer decided to hit the bull with
a club to try to chase it away but to his surprise the bull just sat down, and turned
into stone. So that’s one story. So the temple is not that impressive. It’s only a gate and a small temple behind
with the bull inside. The statue is made of one single granite block. It’s 15 feet tall and 20 feet long so it’s really
impressive. The statue is quite impressive but because
the room is that small you can’t really appreciate the size. I guess if you want to see a nandi statue
like this, like this size, like in open air, you should go to Chamundi Hill next to Mysore. You’ll see a really good one too there. Just outside the temple you have a really
nice parc where you can just walk around and last time I came I saw a lot of bats. Let’s see if they’re still there. I think I can hear them so we’ll see. Yeah I’m pretty happy there were a lot of
bats. If you want to see them you really have to
climb. There’s some kind of rock where you can climb. Go at the top and you’ll be at the top of
the trees and you’ll see all of them. Well I hope you liked this video and you know
more about the bull temple in Bangalore. If you liked it give it a thumbs up. If you want to see more like this don’t forget
to subscribe. You have a button somewhere here with my face. And down there you’ll see the previous video
that I did. See you next time.
